John McAllister enlisted August 27, 1862 at the age of 23.
He was wounded in the arm severely at Lookout
Mountain on November 24, 1863 where he captured a Confederate flag. He
was in the hospital for the remainder of the war. He died in Syracuse as a
result of his wounds.
