Seymour Knickerbocker
Private, Co. E

Seymour Knickerbocker was born in Pompey, NY on August 15, 1840 and volunteered to join the 149th NYSV on August 30, 1862.  He was 5' 6" and listed his pre-service occupation as farmer.

From November 1863 to March 1864 we was detached to Knapp's Battery.  From April 14, 1864 through the end of the war, he was detached to the Division Provost Guard.

After the war, Seymour lived in Syracuse and worked as a railroad man and a manufacturing tailor.  He was a member of the GAR.

He married Jennie Stanton, with whom he had three sons: Frank, Edward, and William.

He divorced Jennie in 1876 and married Alice Jane Newton in 1878, with whom he had another son, LaVerne.

He died at the home of his youngest son in Richmond Virginia on August 18, 1930 at the age of 90.  He is buried at the National Cemetery in Richmond.
