John Kiggins
Sergeant - Company D

Recipient

John Kiggins enlisted on September 2, 1862. He was promoted to Corporal on May 10, 1863 and to Sergeant about November 1, 1863.

He acted as Color Sergeant at Lookout Mountain, Missionary Ridge, and Ringgold.  He was wounded slightly in the shoulder at New Hope Church, Georgia on May 25, 1864 and was sent to the hospital.  He rejoined the company at Raleigh, North Carolina  on April 23, 1865.

He was presented the Medal of Honor for his actions at Lookout Mountain, Tennessee.
