Philip Hirsh enlisted August 29, 1862 as 1^st Sergeant at the age of 28.

He received a flesh wound in the leg at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, July 3, 1863.

He was promoted to 1^st Lieutenant of Company H on May 11, 1865, commission dated April 22, 1865, rank March 1, 1865.

Brevetted Captain.
