Lazarus Newman enlisted on August 25, 1862, at the age of 26.
He was severely wounded in the foot at Peach Tree Creek,
Georgia, on July 20, 1864, and was absent at final muster in the hospital at
Nashville, Tennessee.
His foot was amputated at Nashville, Tennessee.
