A note from Norman:
As you read this you will, as
I did, get to know this man as a patriot and a gentleman. You will also find that there
were then, as now, troops killed by friendly fire, citizens who deserted to Canada, rioted
to protest the draft, and attempted to stop the war with mass marches on Washington etc.
