Parole camp
October 10,1863
Dear Parents
We arrived at the Parole Camp last evening at 8 and found all of the men from our
regiment there. I found my things that I had left there all safe and sound. I suppose we
are all exchanged. At any rate they have sent off nearly all the prisoners that were here.
There isn't any left except the ones that are going to leave today. I don't know how long
before the men that belong to our corps and the 11th will be sent off but I suppose they
will before long. If you should write as soon you get this I think I will get the letter
before I leave here.
